Frequently asked questions
- Why does my photo look sideways here when my phone shows it upright?
- Because the rotation was never in the pixels. Cameras record the angle in an EXIF orientation tag and leave the image as the sensor saw it; software that reads the tag shows it upright, software that ignores it — plenty of upload forms — shows it on its side. Rotating here bakes the orientation into the pixels, so every viewer agrees.
- Does rotating cost quality?
- A quarter turn and a mirror just move whole pixels around, so nothing is resampled. The only place quality can go is the re-encode at the end, and at that scale the difference is invisible.
- Can I rotate by a few degrees to straighten a horizon?
- Not here — only quarter turns and mirroring. A free angle leaves empty corners, which means either cropping into the picture or padding it out, and both are decisions an editor should let you see while you make them.
