Fit a photo to 3:2 for prints

3:2 comes from the 35 mm film frame and survives in both the DSLR sensor and the standard print: 6 × 4 inches and 15 × 10 cm are each exactly 3:2. Phone photos are usually 4:3, so a lab that receives them unmodified trims the difference off for you. Padding to 3:2 first decides where that difference goes.
